I follow this German photographer and artist, Stefan Gesell, for a while now. At first, I’ve seen his art as a little disturbing, then shocking, then I’ve called it dark art but now all I see is a beautiful merger of light, the female body, and perfectly arranged environment which in the end, after extensive editing work using a computer software turns into a painting (yes, I’ve said it. Painting, not a photograph) worthy of hanging in any gallery or art museum.

“I think it is the different approach and stage-managing that makes my pictures look different. For me, the impact of my images is of high importance. I want to make them memorable to the viewer. That’s why I experiment a lot with light and the resulting mood.”

The brighter site of Stefan’s mind
Look at this,
no makeup extravaganza
but still, I can see a little darkness in there.

Even with all that clean light background,
and perfectly presented body lines,
Stefan’s touch is still present.
