Thierry Coquelet is not a professional caricaturist. He has another job related to studies in architecture. He always drew during his spare time, and not caricatures only, but also illustrations, portraits, 3D modeling, and some attempts into the world of comics to which he would like to come back one day.
During the last few years he became much more active as a caricaturist, and even with a very tight schedule, drawing remains a pleasure above all, and hopefully, it will stay that way for many years to come.
More great artwork on Thierry’s Instagram page.
Caricatures with a soul.
“ The only time I saw my original works in public was in the exhibition “Wanted!” which accompanied us in various festivals we went to meet the public and sign the book. It’s rather strange to see one’s drawings in a frame and hung on a wall. It makes them oddly definitive and I’m not used of that.”
Let me start with a few portraits of some great French actors. With exception of Alain Delon many years ago, those actors were not part of celebrity circles in America. But in Europe, they were huge.
- Jean Gabin
- Jean-Paul Belmondo
- Jean Rochefort
- Alain Delon
Now few female actresses from Europe.
- Jeanne Moreau
- Brigitte Bardot
- Claudia Cardinale
- Romy Schneider
Let’s move to the US of America. You should know these faces. Personally, I think the work he’s done on Charles Bronson is exceptional.
Some example of Thierry’s work in color.
Let’s get back to black and white.
